The President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, through Executive Decree number 1 of January 16, 2023, published in the Official Gazette, declared 132 medicines from the Social Security Fund (CSS) in critical shortages.
With this declaration, the Ministry of Health and the CSS may make joint or unilateral purchases at the national or foreign level, through expedited mechanisms, of medicines or pharmaceutical products derived from critical shortages in the national territory at the sector level. public.
After the evaluations of the Critical Shortage of Medicines Commission, it was recommended to the Executive Branch to rule on the critical shortage of medicines or pharmaceutical products, under the criteria or parameters established in article 40-D of the stated regulations;
That through Executive Decree No. 26 of March 15, 2022, the regulations for joint or unilateral purchases by the Ministry of Health and the Social Security Fund of medicines or pharmaceutical products declared in critical shortage are approved, through expedited mechanisms.
