12 days without electricity has the Morán Urbanization in Barquisimeto

According to the inhabitants of this popular urbanization located a few meters from the National Guard Command number 121 of Barquisimeto, on September 27, when there was an electrical storm in the city, lightning struck a transformer and left the sector without service. Until October 5, after nine days and complaints from those affected, Corpoelec went to change three transformers.

This October 6, less than 12 hours into operation, one of the transformers exploded and the residents of the urbanization and other surrounding sectors were once again left without electricity in their homes.

The lack of electricity affects around 100 families living in the sector. Its inhabitants affirm that on repeated occasions they have taken communications to the Corpoelec headquarters to resolve the matter, in addition to making the claim through the customer service lines. Likewise, to the Command of the National Guard, the Government of Lara and the Mayor’s Office of Iribarren, the only public entity that attended to their claims and processed the acquisition of the rebuilt equipment.

Due to the lack of electricity, the Tomás Rafael Giménez Educational Unit, in front of which the transformers are located, limited its class hours from 7:00 am to 10:30 am.

The concern of the residents of the area is that the regional authorities do not act diligently to resolve the situation, and they have to wait another ten days for them to heed the call of the community.
