Havana Cuba. – In the Valle Grande prison of maximum rigor, located on the Havana-San Antonio de los Baños highway, in the municipality of La Lisa, Yosvani García Soto, 48, a resident of the town of Jacomino, is a prisoner. , in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón.
García Soto points out that he is a medium technician in Food Preparation and at the time of being arrested he worked as an employee in a private cafeteria. As he points out, he was captured in front of the bakery on Beltrán and Calzada de Güines during the popular protests on the day July 11, 2021.
He was initially taken to the 11th Police Unit, in San Miguel del Padrón. He points out that they kept him in that police station for several hours and later threw him into a truck and transported him to the Ivanov prison, in the Cotorro municipality.
In that correctional facility, he says, they made him go through a human tunnel made up of guards who beat prisoners and unleashed dogs on them. The protester stresses that as a result of this beating they broke his mouth and dislocated his right shoulder.
García Soto also emphasizes that while they were beating the prisoners, the military did not allow them to look at them, but rather they had to look down and bow their heads. However, he notes, he was able to hear the officer who directed the punishment (Captain Sandy) whom he later saw in Valle Grande, so he supposes that perhaps they took him to that prison to reinforce the repression.
García Soto adds that he spent 16 days in the Ivanov correctional facility and was later transferred to the Jovenes de Occidente prison, where he spent several more days. Finally, he was transferred to the Valle Grande prison. They accuse him of attack, contempt, public disorder and conspiracy to commit a crime. The prosecutor’s request for him is 14 years in prison.
García Soto adds that he is the father of two motherless children.
