11 Venezuelan crew members and an Iranian from the Emtrasur plane arrive in the country

Emtrasur assures that its visit to Argentina "has no hidden intention"

Of the 19 crew members of the Emtrasur cargo plane who were charged in the legal case at first, there are seven who are still being held on Argentine soil. The Argentine justice will resolve the situation of the other seven involved in a week

This Friday, September 16, the first group of crew members of the Emtrasur flight arrived in the country, held for a period of approximately three months by the Argentine justice system.

At the international airport Simón Bolívar arrived a Conviasa plane with the 11 Venezuelans and an Iranian who were released in Argentina, after a judicial measure that prohibited them from leaving that country until the investigations for alleged links with international terrorism were completed.

The departure was authorized by the federal judge of Lomas de Zamora, Federico Villena, who complied with a resolution of the Court of Appeals of La Plata ordering the release of some of those involved and on September 13 set a period of 10 days to resolve the procedural situation of the remaining seven.

Villena’s decision to authorize the departure from Argentina arose after the demand of the Court of Appeals. In the first place, the magistrate proceeded to return the passport to the 12 crew members and, finally, this Thursday, September 15, the proceedings for their return to Venezuela began.

Transport Minister and President of Conviasa, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, celebrated the arrival of the crew members. “They are an example of ethics, strength and revolutionary struggle that they have endured and are happy to set foot on Venezuelan soil. We await the next return of the rest of the colleagues who are still illegally held in Argentina.

For his part, the captain of the Emtrasur cargo plane, Vicente Raga, said that “returning to the country fills us with emotion, we hope that the other colleagues will be with us soon, a lot was said about us but not about what we really are, good people that is what the media should reflect ».

While Ángel Marín (crew member) gave thanks for the support of the administration of Nicolás Maduro and the efforts of the Venezuelan Embassy in Argentina. “And justice was served. They knew from the first moment that we had nothing.

Of the 19 crew members who were charged in the case at first, there are seven who are still being held on Argentine soil. These are the Iranians Gholamreza Ghasemi (pilot), Abdolbaset Mohammadi, Mario Arraga Urdaneta (finance manager) and José García Contreras (mechanic), because the judge considers that “there are concrete indications”.

As for the remaining two, the Iranians Saeid Vali Zadeh and Mohammad Khosraviragh, Judge Villena required that they remain in Argentina to complete the expertise of their phones and computers.

It should be remembered that the Boeing 747-300 aircraft has remained at the Ezeiza international airport (near Buenos Aires) since last June 8. The aircraft, which belonged to the Iranian airline Mahan Air, was retained and later seized after a request from the United States Department of Justice, which argued that the sanctions prevented negotiating its transfer between Iran and Venezuela.

On the other hand, the Argentine justice stated that there were doubts that the main objective of the flight was to instruct the crew, because photos and images related to terrorism were found on the phone of the pilot of Iranian nationality.

According to information released by the Argentine press, photos and videos of weapons, armies and leaders and people who had been killed were found on the phone of the pilot Gholamreza Ghasemi. There were also images related to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Quds Forces. (paramilitary arm of the IRGC, related to terrorism by the US) and Hezbollah.
