A new batch with 100,800 pediatric vaccines against the coronavirus arrived in Mexico yesterday. They are of the Pfizer-BioNTech brand and are part of the agreement with Mexico for 10 million 3 thousand 300 doses that will be administered to children from five to 11 years old.
The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported the arrival of the biologicals at the Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport, on flight CJT952 from Cincinnati, United States. The products were transferred to the National Cancer Institute to safeguard the cold chain.
With this delivery, progress in complying with the agreement with Covax for these vaccines is 4,814,400 doses. According to official information, in the following weeks the biologicals agreed with that mechanism will be completed.
Until last Monday, 7 million 414 thousand 89 children of that age group had received at least one application, which represents an advance of 48 percent. The Ssa estimated that 15 million 424 thousand 170 people from five to 11 years old live in Mexico.
Since December 23, 2020 – when the first flight with immunogens against SARS-CoV2 arrived, which have been applied to people of all ages from five years old – until yesterday, Mexico has had 240 million 966 thousand 485 biologicals available , including the vaccines that were packaged in national territory.
