1001 presented its candidates for the Senate; Andrade and Constanza Moreira at the head

In second place is former senator Constanza Moreira, reaffirming the political articulation of various sectors of the party. Andrade said that it is “a long effort of political articulation” and that the list reflects “a powerful, unitary and plural political signal.”

During the presentation, “El Boca” highlighted that the formation of the list responds to one of the main self-criticisms of the Frente Amplio: the fragmentation in terms of lists.

According to the senator, this effort seeks to overcome this dispersion and work in unity. “The Frente Amplio is increasingly fragmented in terms of lists, it cannot find ways to unite,” he said. However, he stressed that, with this proposal, “we have found a way to reflect in a single list representatives of the workers’ movement, union leaders, fighters, but also of the feminist movement, of culture, of the university and of the fight for human rights.”

In his statements, Andrade mentioned several prominent figures who make up the list, such as Marcos Carámbula, Alberto Curiel, Lile Caruso, Gerardo Bleier and Irma Correa, seeking the plurality of views and trajectories that make up the list. “One finds from young activists to old leaders,” he commented, highlighting that these leaders have given “examples of commitment to human rights.” Among other names, he also highlighted the former rector of the university, Roberto Markarian, the current mayor of Canelones, Marcelo Metediera and the president of the Departmental Board, Patricia Soria.

In addition to Andrade and Moreira, the list includes former senator Juan Castillo, the president of the Frente Amplio in Canelones, Susana Muñiz, and Rafael Michelini, among others. “I have the enormous honor of heading the list,” said Andrade, mentioning that “in second place will be Constanza; followed by comrade Juan Castillo, comrade Susana Muñiz and then Rafael Michelini.” He also referred to the presence of cultural figures, such as Eduardo Larbanois and “Pepe” Vázquez, “el Flaco” Debevi,” stating that “we have managed to try to reflect, as an electoral political expression, the necessary views that must complement each other in a process of change.”

Andrade concluded: “The Frente Amplio, whose identity is the fight against inequalities, is trying to represent and do so alongside those who suffer from these inequalities with this list.”
