Toll coverage in the modality Free Flow (free passage) Soon will become the modality available in all parts of BR-381/MG. The first two gantries, in the cities of Caeté (km 411,850) and João Monlevade (km 345,270), begin to operate this Saturday (27). The collection will be made electronically, after passing through gantries equipped with cameras and sensors, without the need for operator or toll plaza and without gates or stops. 
Since February, the new 381 is the company responsible for BR-381/MG. R $ 9.3 billion in investments are foreseen. The highway plays a strategic role for the development of the country due to the flow of agricultural, livestock, mining and industrial products.
In six months of concession, R $ 319.7 million were invested in infrastructure and services improvements. With this, BR-381 became the first on federal highways granted in Brazil to adopt the electronic toll in 100% of its activities.
The operation has been authorized since the 16th and is the first since the technical change implemented in the first quarter.
THE National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) changed the pricing and cost division methodology. Since then the Union has assumed, as granting power, 90% of the risks of evasion in the sport. Concessionaires will be up to bear the other 10%.

Totems
The risk of dropout, as well as fines when they occur, are the subject of discussion in the House, as with the bill 4,643/2020. Proposals defend debtors to debtors to banning the system of roads granted and move towards consensus in convergence with the rules of ANTT and the Ministry of Transport.

“The totem works by approximation. The user enters the board and checks their pending issues, being able to pay by card or pix. The totems are in establishments on the highway itself to facilitate access to users, where people are already used to stop and consume,” said the operations manager of Nova 381, Diego Dutra. It will also be possible to pay through an app.

Other states
BR-101 (Rio-Santos) inaugurated the use of the sport, in 2023, in the stretch between Paraty and Itaguaí, in Rio de Janeiro, with three points of collection. On state highways the system is used in Rio Grande do Sul, in two highways, and in São Paulo, in Três. The São Paulo government has confirmed that it intends to expand to 58 points of collection for Free Flow until the year 2032.
This year is expected to implement eight portica, one on the Rodoanel, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, and the others on roads granted in the regions of Baixada Santista, Alto Tietê and Vale do Ribeira. In other ways, such as the newly granted Raposo Tavares Highway, which connects São Paulo to the western region of the state, the concession contract provides for five porticos easy to make an electronic toll scheduled to go into operation in 2032.
ANTT reported, by note, that the change aims to modernize toll systems in the country, reducing traffic jams and improving fluidity on granted highways. “The advance of the free passage system is also aligned with the search for more sustainable and efficient solutions for the Brazilian road infrastructure,” the agency points out.
