SANTIAGO.- The Fourth Collegiate Court of Santiago imposed 10 years in prison against a prosecuted teacher who was found guilty of charges of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and psychological and sexual abuse to the detriment of 13 students.
The conviction against José Antonio Grullón Polanco, arrested in 2022 following the testimonies and corresponding evidence of the victims, the majority being minors, was imposed by judges Rubén Darío Cruz Uceta, Rubén Rodríguez and Yasmín de los Santos.
The accusation presented by the investigative body was developed from the protocol that the educational center launched, after the victims revealed the constant attacks by the teacher.
Eight of the victims, aged between 14 and 17, They wrote letters and sent them to the psychology department of their school, in which they recounted the abuse they suffered from the teacher.
The Public Ministry was represented at the hearing by prosecutor Jenniffer Rodríguez.
In its theory, the investigative body maintains that the teacher, using his power and hierarchy over the students, and having control over them, He harassed, intimidated, assaulted and psychologically and sexually abused them.
The Public Ministry demonstrated that the accused violated articles 309-1, 330 and 333 of the Dominican Penal Code and article 396, literal B and C, of Law 136-03 that creates the Code for the Protection and Fundamental Rights of Boys, Girls and Adolescents. In addition to the ten years in prison, the court imposed against the convicted person the payment of a fine of $100 thousand pesos and, in civil matters, compensation of 500 thousand pesos.
