SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- Reider, a 10 year old boy who had been missing since yesterday afternoon in Havana, is now with his mother, as confirmed by the woman herself, identified as Yobaisi Compota in Facebook.
“He has already appeared. Thank God and all those people who have been informing me,” the woman said on social media, without providing details about the context of the child’s location.
According to the report, the boy, who is undergoing psychiatric treatment, is not receiving any medication, which could have contributed to his disappearance.
The mother had explained that the child had run away from the special school located in El Trébol, in the municipality of Habana del Este.
The last time he was seen he was with another child. “Please, whoever sees him, write to me urgently. I only ask God that he is safe and sound,” his mother had said.
Given the lack of mechanisms -on the part of the State- to make visible the missing persons casesmost cases are made visible by members of civil society through social networks.
Even when it comes to minors or elderly people, as in the case of the Amber alert used in the United States, the government does not have the tools to deal with these situations.
To report a missing person, it is recommended that family members fill out the form for missing alerts which make the search and pressure on authorities more effective.
The cards must contain the signs that help to identify the missing person.
The data that must be indicated are the full name, alias, if a report has been made to the PNR, registration number/date, physical description: hair color, eye color, height.
In addition, we ask for your age, identifiable marks (moles, tattoos, scars), whether you suffer from chronic illnesses, medication you need, clothes you were wearing the last time you were seen, place and day you were last seen, place of residence, telephone numbers or other contact information, and other information considered important for the search.
