A Brazilian baby around 1 year old, identified as Fátima Abbas, was killed in a missile attack by Israeli military forces, in Hadeth, a suburb of Beirut, capital of Lebanon. The attack occurred last Saturday (2), and the child succumbed to his injuries. The information comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issued an official statement regretting what happened.1-year-old Brazilian baby killed in Israeli bombing

“By expressing its deepest condolences to the family of Fátima Abbas and extending all its solidarity, the Brazilian government reiterates its condemnation, in the strongest terms, to the continuous and unjustified Israeli air strikes against civilian areas in Lebanon and renews its appeal to the parties involved so that hostilities immediately cease”, says the note from Itamaraty.

According to the Brazilian government, the conflict in Lebanon, intensified by air and ground attacks by Israel since the end of September, has already resulted in the confirmed death of three Brazilian citizens, all minors. In addition to baby Fátima, teenagers Mirna Raef Nasser, aged 16, and Ali Kamal Abdallah, aged 15, were victims of bombings.

Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group have participated in attacks on the border between the two countries since the start of the current war in the Gaza Strip. The conflict began last year, after a Hamas attack on Israel, an ally of Hezbollah. In Lebanon alone, the number of civilians killed in the conflict exceeds 2,800 people.
