Corinthians conquered last night the Brazilian Super Cup after winning 0-2 in Brasilia against Flamengo and thus interrupted the winning streak of the Rio team led by Filipe Luis. It is the first time that the São Paulo club has lifted this trophy since 1991, when they also beat Flamengo in the final.
With this defeat, ‘Fla’ sees a triumphant march that led them to win the Brazilian Championship, the Copa Libertadores and the Super Cup last year. The São Paulo club took the lead in the 26th minute with a goal from Gabriel Paulista and the Dutchman Memphis Depay kept the rival’s defense under constant pressure.

To make matters worse, as soon as the second half began, the referee sent off Colombian creative Jorge Carrascal after a VAR analysis.
