đź”´ Forest fires in Peru LIVE: These are the affected regions, number of deaths and more

Ten people, mostly elderly, died due to forest fires in different regions of Peru. There are also 96 injured and 1,876 affected. In addition, 51 active outbreaks were recorded in the mountains and jungle of Peru.

So far in 2024, 222 forest fires have been recorded in recent weeks nationwide. In addition, 152 have been extinguished and 19 have been controlled, according to information from the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci).

The regions most affected by forest fires are Amazonas, Ancash, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, La Libertad, Huanuco, Madre de Dios, Pasco, Piura, Tumbes and Ucayali.
